Recommendation for the show in Mitsukoshi Theatre 2006.

The theme is a novel “Kokoro” by Soseki Natsume in this musical play.
This play is set the point of view as the main character’s wife; name “Shizu”, and delved story.
Also the story and movement of her feeling are expressed synthetically in solo dialogue, song, dance and music. There was no precedent for success such as the very unique idea, although Soseki’s works have been made stage in several ways.
Ruruko’s performance has developed and reached to her “Shizu” remind us the “Shizu” was like this.
I would like to recommend this musical as a masterpiece that will be accepted globally.
Their show in Thailand is enough for the proof.

Musical Play Critic – Masayuki Segawa

2005

It was for 2 years to come to this musical “Shizu” for me.
The perfection was increasing and got more general audiences since last time.
Miss Minagawa lost much anxiety instead of built up her confidence and style herself.
Her performance has greatly improved especially her acting when she’s singing.
I felt the woman named Shizu has been investigated deeply.
There was some audience, was listen closely with tears at a scene that Shizu believed her mother in her lifetime. I was greatly touched with this too.

There are two things which should be improved.
One is at the curtain call. She gave a bow and sang a song after the applause.
The song was too much remaining musically, because the main performance had much of the perfection.
We already had a great impression with it, it was unnecessary the same music for basking in the afterglow of the musical even it was routine of musical.

I believe that should have silent at the moment.
Another is the high heeled boots that she was wearing.
I always wonder that people were wearing that kind of shoes in Meiji era, or not.

Moreover, it will be very important, how Miss Minagawa can keep her feeling for Shizu freshly instead of being used to the character, might not be the matter for her.
I hope that you will challenge the world with Shizu.
However, we are living in the time that making everything articles of consumption and requesting everything instant result. It is very rare to spend the long time and a lot of work for bringing up the one musical; and the one actress; in this modern time.
